Working under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager, incumbent assists in supervising production team members to ensure expectations are met or surpassed.

Directly oversees all personnel in assigned area. Observes, promotes and ensures compliance of all rules and policies maintained by the company (safety, continuous improvement, leadership, core values).

Essential Functions

  • Assists in manufacturing process for designated area;

  • Champion continuous improvement tasks to increase daily production capacity with minimal labor;

  • Assign team members to respective jobs at the beginning of each shift;

  • Ensures that all team members understand assignments and have proper tools necessary to complete performance of job function;

  • Communicates with Personnel and Manufacturing Manager daily to ensure coordination of activity;

  • Maintains safety practices at all times;

  • Assists in and maintains production schedule indicated by Production Manager for the manufacturing expectations.

  • Ensures quality production at all times;

  • Completes necessary paperwork as required, (Charts, Graphs and etc.);

  • Assures that all WIP is to the minimal/maximum expectations (in line with Lean Manufacturing philosophy) and that all staging areas are orderly.

  • Maintains 5S principles and initiatives at all times;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • 100% on time delivery through manufacturing process

  • Retention – 75% retention rate for manufacturing lines Retention – reduction in turnover by 10%

  • Recordable/LTI – reduction in recordable injuries by 25%

  • Quality at the customer – 98% for assigned lines

  • Complete daily leader standard work (checklist)

  • Use tape measure and any other tools, meters, etc. to insure adherence to quality standards and federal regulations.

  • Must demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal directions.

Supervisory Responsibility

Incumbent is responsible for a variety of different operations within the assigned area and the oversight of associates in that area. The incumbent works with considerable independence from management controls. The responsibility of directing subordinates to ensure compliance with plant policies rests with the incumbent.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires 98% standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders. The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a 1st shift, full-time hourly position.


No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • Any combination of education equivalent to a high school diploma;

  • Experience in supervision;

  • Demonstrated ability to lead team members by a positive example;

  • Familiarity with personal computer and relevant software necessary to complete appropriate paperwork;

  • Demonstrated ability to follow both written and verbal instructions;

  • Demonstrated ability to perform job to acceptable standards;

  • Demonstrated ability to understand processes involved in manufacturing.
