POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for preparing internal consolidated federal and state income tax returns and estimates. Responsible for overseeing the sales tax, property tax and payroll tax functions.
Prepares internal consolidated federal/state income tax returns and supporting schedules. Determines proper treatment of items on the tax returns and supporting schedules.
Coordinates sales tax and property tax functions, including reviews of returns, and ensures timely payment.
Calculates quarterly federal and state tax estimates and monthly tax provision.
Coordinates responses to outside audit firm requests and provides periodic tax schedules to outside audit firm. Coordinates federal and state tax exams.
Researches various tax laws and provides recommendations to manager after evaluating different courses of action and offers suggestions on a regular basis about how procedures should change (i.e., to make them more efficient or to comply with changing laws).
Provides various analyses on an as-needed basis.
Works in conjunction with other department personnel in the completion and analysis of tax returns.
- Serves as primary contact for the payroll tax compliance function, including payroll tax deposits, SUI rate notices, taxability questions and notices from taxing authorities.
Completes all compliance training related to the position.
Must understand all applicable laws and regulations that apply to the position and complies with the requirements.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Five (5) or more years of related experience in consolidated corporate income, sales and property tax rules and return filings preferred.
Knowledge of sales/use tax return filings as well as state and local income tax.
Knowledge of PC based accounting systems a plus (i.e., RIA GoSystem, Prologue GL).
Must be able to effectively communicate technical tax matters in both written and verbal settings
Strong PC skills (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe).
Ability to work independently.
Good organization skills with attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Self-motivated and results oriented.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
Bachelors Degree required; concentration in Accounting/Business preferred. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Ability to travel to all locations as well as ability to travel over night, as needed for meetings, projects, training, seminars, etc.
