This role is integral in the support of Alcoa Warrick Operations' position in the electric power market (MISO) through analysis of market settlements, development of energy forecasts, daily market bids/offers, and the purchase and sale of electrical power. The position prepares market forecasts, monitors for market opportunities, analyzes evolving opportunity costs and implements strategies for maximizing asset value. In addition, the position is the SPA for PCI Software platform used to at Warrick to submit, track, and evaluate our participation in the MISO market.MAJOR ACTIVITIES: * Handle day to day decisions for the purchase and sale of electrical power and ancillary services for the site * Establish daily reporting of financial performance of the Ancillary Services Market to the Smelter. * Provide financial support for the accounting department. Adhere to reporting requirements both internal and external * Support Forecasting/Planning function for the generation and Ancillary Services Market to the business. Emphasis on annual, monthly, and daily tie out of financial statements and invoicing * Offer expert advise on the development of forecasts regarding the power market. * SPA for the PCI Software package used to interface with the MISO market. * This position analyzes market information and develops reporting tools for decision analysis. * Research and resolve financial issues as they arise including generation meter issues and MISO market invoicing.KEY CHALLENGES: * Working daily with outside suppliers (MISO, Vectren) and customers of the plant. * Reviewing market data, developing shadow statements and verifying settlement statements for payment. * Handling specialized technical problems related to power systems and the power markets. * Supporting the administration of existing power contracts. * 24 X 7 response to power needs. * Working with and through diverse personnel (CO's) who do not have direct reporting responsibility.MAJOR CUSTOMERS * External: Vectren, MISO, FERC, EPA * Internal: Smelter, GRP , Control Room Operators, Accounting ManagerBASIC OR MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred * Knowledge of accounting practices * Experience in accounts payable and receivable * Analysis skills * Strong communications and networking skills * Experience in Excel. * Experience processing large amounts of data.
