Job Description:


The Buyer is responsible for supporting Plant initiative with respect to Purchasing and helping to manage daily purchasing activities. The Buyer ensures that purchases are made at the lowest cost and highest quality consistent with the needs of the Plant, and in alignment with company policies and procedures.


25% Ensure all purchases are made in accordance with company policy and procedures. Establish vendor relationships, establish contracts as appropriate, request system set-up for vendors as needed. Ensure all requisitions are entered and created prior to vendor purchases. Maintain appropriate documentation and file as required per policy. Maintain All Contractor files which consist of keeping up-dated insurance Certificates, OSHA 300 logs, Contractor Questionnaire, Indemnification Agreement, Secrecy Agreements, and Visitor Release and Agreements.

25% Identify and participate in cost savings initiatives using competitive bidding, negotiations, and drive service improvements.

15% Assist accounting with month end close by closing the gap with delivery discrepancies and/or receiving issues, past due invoices, invoice issues and vendor credits are received as appropriate.

15% Work closely with plant employees to identify and develop new sources of supply and provide lower cost alternatives. Participate in teams to gain an understanding of plant needs. Serve as backup for the Production planner as needed. Set up all drawn down purchase requisitions as required at year-end.

15% May prepare and execute, in conjunction with the Legal Department and Corporate Purchasing, supply agreements which fully protect the Company against missed deliveries, shortages and outages, poor material quality and other performance issues that could affect production.

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply chain, Business Management or Administration

  • Experience in a purchasing capacity within a manufacturing environment

  • 3-5 years’ experience in make/buy decisions
