This position performs duties associated with phone triage, symptom management, and advise in clinic patient care and quality improvement activities. Assures completeness of ordered procedure and treatments, educates/instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs, and ensures medical orders are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Telephone nursing care involves the establishment of a nurse-patient relationship and is facilitated by the nursing process. This process is an interactive problem solving process used to give organized and individualized patient care. It involves assessment with data collection, identification of the problem, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
