ZF Mechatronics Engineer in Lafayette, Indiana
Division T - Commercial Vehicle
The candidate will be working with mechanical and electrical systems in commercial vehicle steering systems to bring advanced concepts to production. As part of supporting the megatrends of electrification and driver assistance, the selected candidate may work on motors, sensors, pumps, and mechanical & electrical systems to bring new concepts to the market.
Lead or support activities to analyze requirements and integrate the design of systems which meet customer, legislative, safety, and other internal requirements.
Elicit customer requirement.
Generate and maintain Product Compliance Matrix (PCM), gap analysis, and action plans
Generate system functional, architecture and subsystem functional requirements documents for flow down to subsystem/component teams and to support generation of the safety plan
Establish traceability of requirements across multiple levels (ex. linking requirements between various modules in DOORS)
Lead and support analysis activities as required – DFMEA, DRBFM, PFMEA, etc.
Approve verification & validation plans to ensure all requirements are met at subsystem, system and vehicle levels (requirement-test case alignment). This may include mechanical, electrical, HIL, and vehicle level testing.
Supervise validation & verification testing; approve results; final customer review and approval.
Lead or support product development issue tracking, resolution, documentation (8D).
Lead or support development of new features, functions, diagnostics, verification tests, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of three years engineering experience, preferably in product engineering
Background in Automotive Engineering and chassis systems (steering, braking, suspension)
Competency in core fields (hydraulics, mechanical, electronics, controls, and embedded software)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the desire to work in a team environment.
Availability to travel to customer and other ZF sites as required by project needs.
Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of lifecycle and requirements management tools (i.e. PTC Integrity, DOORS).
Experience working with HIL test systems.
Experience with CAN, SAE J1939 protocol and using CANape, CANalayzer.
Competence in MATLAB and Simulink.
Commercial Drivers License.
