Join our non-profit organization, where your heart and mind go to work!The American Red Cross of Indiana has a great opportunity to join our Disaster Services team as a Sr. Disaster Program Manager. We are seeking an energetic, engaging, and innovative Leader and Manager to support a team of 14 paid staff and multiple leadership volunteers. The right candidate will strike the balance between managing and coaching the team towards accountability on goals and metrics while also empowering them to fulfill the mission creatively. Ideally, they'll have prior experience in authentic community engagement and collaboration with community partners to build community resilience. The day-to-day work will include meeting with the team around strategy, objectives, and tactics to achieve goals, coaching and mentoring the team toward a people, relationship, and mission first model, building strategic relationships to fulfill region-wide community resilience initiatives, and working closely with internal stakeholders to fulfill our mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. This is a region-wide and fast-paced position that frequently shifts and requires innovation to meet the need. Below are more details regarding this opportunity: - Ability to establish accountability and responsibility to meet goals and achieve metrics. - Exhibit excellent communication skills, professionalism, and show respect at all times. - Coach on building strong and authentic relationships to empower volunteer leadership. - Collaborate with internal lines of service to ensure coordination with regional initiatives and to maximize impact with limited staff and materiel resources. - Be solution-oriented for both new and ongoing issues by identifying and removing barriers and seeking out answers, using large data sets to inform decision-making. - This position should be able to step in and carry out all duties for the Regional Disaster Officer during times of vacation or deployments. - Schedule is Monday - Friday with planned and unplanned evenings and/or weekends. - A valid driver's license and good driving record is required to operate a Red Cross vehicle. - Regional travel expected to be 25-50% once restrictions are lifted. - All full-time disaster employees must be willing and able to be deployed to disaster relief operations for minimum of two weeks per year to other parts of the state/country on an as needed basis.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years experience with social services or service/program delivery, and providing leadership to a department, program or service. Demonstrated experience in coordinating staff and volunteer activities. Ability to interpret program trends, results, and related data to formulate recommendations. Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong skills in planning and problem-solving. Ability to relate well and effectively with diverse groups and individuals.Management Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years staff management experience.Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Develops project plans & budgets. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of program or service. Demonstrated ability in creating presentations and developing training modules. Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills to develop creative processes for continuous program or service improvements. Proven track record of collaboration, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management. Additionally, this position requires ability for planning, public speaking, project management and process improvement. Individual must be customer oriented, organized, and able to operate with an orientation toward solutions with an external focus, and team orientation.Other: Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws.Must be able to perform all assigned responsibilities under "grey sky" requirements.
