Guggenheim Services, LLC Financial Reporting Accountant in Indianapolis, Indiana

Guggenheim Life and Annuity Company is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant I to complete a variety of detailed accounting and financial reporting activities, such as recording, processing and summarizing financial information for financial accounting and regulatory reporting, maintaining various account balances, and assisting senior staff as needed.

Tasks are performed on behalf of multiple legal entities within the Guggenheim Insurance family of companies. The Financial Reporting Accountant I interacts with peers in Guggenheim Life and Annuity Company and Guggenheim Insurance as well as affiliated entities and Guggenheim Partners Accounting.

The position presents an opportunity to join a very collaborative team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment which will allow you to learn and grow your knowledge of financial reporting concepts and practices.

  • Assists in the accurate and timely preparation and filing of STAT and GAAP financial statements and other related filings in a multi-company environment.

  • Assists in the accurate and timely preparation of monthly management reporting.

  • Prepares the monthly close calendar and monitors completion of various closing activities.

  • Performs data entries including, but not limited to, STAT journals, GAAP journals, reinsurance accounting, general recurring journals and miscellaneous entries.

  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and assists with other controls as needed.

  • Assists in administering reporting of financial information related to third parties.

  • Assists with various audits of company records, working with external auditors and internal auditors.

  • Assists with monitoring the coding of accounts payable transactions to the general ledger and cost centers.

  • Previous experience in financial services and/or insurance industry

  • Exposure to general ledger applications helpful (EAS preferred)

  • Excellent oral, written, listening, and presentation skills and ability to clearly articulate complex information to others

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline

  • 1-3 years accounting and reporting experience

  • Advanced working knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
