Were looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.The Lilly Diabetes and ComplicationsTherapeutic Area (DCTA)is focused on discovery and development of new therapeutics for the treatment ofmedicalcomplications arising from type 2 diabetes.TheDCTAis looking for abiology apprenticeto conduct experiments usingbiochemistry, molecular biology and/orcell biologytechniques. Theapprenticeshouldhavecompleted course work inbiology, cell physiology, biochemistry or molecular biology and have enthusiasm forapplying the scientific method to make discoveries to help patients with type 2 diabetes.The candidate is expected to work in a team-oriented environment and to supportmultiple teams in the DCTAwiththeirexpertise as needed.The Lilly Professional Apprenticeship Program is a 12-month intensive fixed duration (FDE) professional development program during which the apprentice receives a combination of formal training, on-the-job learning, and mentoring in a key functional area to be equipped to compete for a Lilly position after successful completion of the apprenticeship.ResponsibilitiesLearn skills to read,interpret, and apply knowledge gained fromscientific publications related to planned research projectsLearn the principles of experimental designin partnership with laboratory expertsCritically evaluate datathat are generated from experimentationTrouble-shootproblems in collaboration with other scientists when problems arisePerform cell culturing and molecular biology/biochemistry techniquesto support drug discoveryMaintainaccurate record keeping,conductdata analysis, and reportdata in written and oral formatsConductwork in full compliance with Lilly Research Policies, and complete all required training activities in the timeframe specifiedDemonstratepro-activeandflexiblebehaviors anddevelop skills for competency inconductingindependentresearch projectsBasic QualificationsHS Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of related or professional experience. Proven experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
