Position Summary:

The Behavioral Clinician (B.C.) or Behavioral Clinician Technician (B.C.T.) provides individual skills training to meet treatment plan objectives for a specific resident. Skills training may include but is not limited to: self-care, anger management, communication, positive coping skills, and effective problem solving. The B.C. or B.C.T. works in collaboration with the child’s treatment team in order to provide safe, quality care individualized to the resident. The Behavioral Clinician or Behavioral Clinician Technician documents sessions in no more than 47 hours from time of session. B.C. and B.C.T. are to strive for concurrent documentation. B.C. and B.C.T. are to meet 20 to 30 billable hours per week. Also, after appropriate training and certification, staff will be asked to conduct CANS/ANSA re-assessments. The position may require transporting a resident to a locale for a therapeutic session off campus, as determined by the supervisor to meet treatment plan interventions.

Qualifications:

  • For Behavioral Clinicians: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines: social work, psychology, criminal justice, education, nursing recreational therapy, rehabilitation, music therapy, art therapy, pastoral counseling, child development, or related human services disciplines with 1 year related experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

  • Knowledgeable about childhood development.

  • Must have effective time management skills.

  • Experience with writing concurrent documentation and with the ability to apply Medicaid format.

  • Must possess valid Indiana driver’s license and auto insurance.

  • Minimum 21 years of age.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to evaluate level of functioning using assessment instruments, i.e. CANS/ANSA.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to evaluate progress of resident to the intervention provided.

  • Knowledge of acceptable social, work and interpersonal behavior for residents.

  • Knowledge of counseling theories useful in facilitation the rehabilitation of residents.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.

  • Ability to multi-task, capable of daily problem-solving complex issues.

  • Ability to keep pertinent records and make clear concise reports.

  • Effective oral and written communications skills.

  • Knowledge of sound writing principles and ability to clearly communicate in EMR.

  • Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Physical, mental, special demands and working conditions:

  • Ability to function in a fast paced, fluid environment.
