About the Role:
The SBA Loan Underwriter provides general monitoring activities, administrative support and oversight to the bank’s SBA commercial loan portfolio in an effort to prudently manage ongoing risk. The SBA Loan Underwriter works closely with bank management to timely report the general condition and quality of the SBA commercial loan portfolio.
Screen and confirm new loan opportunities for SBA eligibility to receive government guaranteed financing
Assist with preparation of Term Sheets and/or Commitment Letters as necessary
Present credit proposals in concise, consistent, organized fashion, fully supported with proper justification
Collect, spread, analyze and evaluate financial and related data to determine credit worthiness of prospective or existing borrowers
Coordinate, order, and review all due diligence reports including but not limited to flood, title search, appraisals and environmental reports per bank and SBA policy
Assure timely completion of annual reviews as applicable
Oversee the monitoring and collection of periodic loan servicing requirements and addresses documentation exceptions
Monitor delinquency reporting, upcoming loan maturities and loan covenant testing
Coordinate the completion and distribution of periodic portfolio reports to management
Act as a secondary or alternate contact for customer relationships
Resolve billing disputes and account discrepancy issues
Assist in preparing for periodic portfolio reviews conducted by regulatory agencies, loan review and internal audit
Prepare draft responses to audits, reviews and regulatory exam reports as requested
Perform quality control reviews insuring loans are properly booked to loan system based on executed loan documentation and final approval conditions
Maintain and updates exception reporting related to any discrepancies
Review the closed loan credit and documentation files for completeness and organization
Perform other duties as assigned
Maintain up to date knowledge of SBA rules and procedures
- This position requires five-seven years of relevant banking, portfolio management or credit experience.

Primarily sedentary position requiring long periods of time working at a computer.
Must be able to move throughout the office and buildings to obtain or relay information.
